US National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan expressed gratitude to Turkey, Sullivan posted on Twitter, APA reports.
"As we welcome home Trevor Reed, we are grateful to Turkey for its role in making his safe return possible. We appreciate our Turkish partners’ assistance on this important matter," said Sullivan.
Note that Russia and the United States swapped prisoners.
The Russian Foreign Ministry has announced that Trevor Reed, a US citizen imprisoned in Russia, and Konstantin Yaroshenko, a pilot imprisoned in the United States, have been exchanged.
Recall that Russian citizen Konstantin Yaroshenko was sentenced by a US court in 2010 to 20 years in prison.
