United States Secretary of Defense Lloyd J. Austin III reaffirmed that the United States and South Korea would enhance their trilateral relation with Japan, as published by the Pentagon on Wednesday, APA reports citing Teletrader.
Secretary Austin said that as part of a call with the Republic of Korea Minister of National Defense Lee Jong-sup, in which both parties also reaffirmed the will to work closely in defense of that country. "The two leaders committed to maintaining 'fight tonight' readiness and close cooperation in the face of continued provocative actions by the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK)," reads the statement.
Secretary Austin and Minister Lee also discussed the security environment on the Korean Peninsula and in the Indo-Pacific area, affirming the importance of maintaining the rules-based international order.
