The United States White House will not pay for Twitter's verification badges for its staff after the company rolls out legacy checks next month, according to a report published by Axios on Friday, APA reports.

"It is our understanding that Twitter Blue does not provide person-level verification as a service. Thus, a blue check mark will now simply serve as a verification that the account is a paid user," White House director of digital strategy Rob Flaherty said in an email cited by the news website.

Elon Musk's social media platform previously informed that official government organizations will be labeled with gray check marks that suggest the accounts are trustworthy. However, private individuals will have to pay $8 per month for blue badges, and companies $1,000 a month to have new gold badges visible on their profile.
