8th congress of Azerbaijani Composers’ Union held

Culture and Tourism Minister Abulfas Garayev congratuklayed Azerbaijani composers on the congress and wished them success.
“We are very glad that congress of Azerbaijani Composers’ Union is held after a long break. This is the first congress held after Azerbaijan gained its independence. Congress Azerbaijani Composers’ Union will be further held regularly. We have much to do to improve Azerbaijani music. All the works to be performed within six days are new. We will hear them for the first time,” he said.
Secretary of Azerbaijani Composers’ Union Ramiz Zohrabov regarded the congress as a great success. He said that the congress will last till June 16 and concerts will be organized in different halls every day.
Composers from Ukraine, Turkey, Uzbekistan, Georgia and Russia participated in the congress. Following this, the opening ceremony was continued with the concert of Azerbaijan State Symphonic Orchestra named after Uzeyir Hajibayov. Head conductor of the orchestra was Rauf Abdullayev. /APA/
