Arif Malikov: Do not ask me why Firengiz Alizade was elected

The composer said that he wanted the youth to win the elections.
â€œFirengiz Alizade is not young, she is above 60. I expressed my position in the congress. The composers elected Firengiz Alizade. Donâ€™t ask me why she was elected despite living abroad for 15 years. I did not elect her,â€ he said.
Arif Malikov said that he does not want to be secretary of the composersâ€™ union and wished the newly-elected chairwoman success.
â€œI voted for Serdar Farajov yesterday but he was not elected. I have much to do and I donâ€™t want to hold a post. Holding a post contradicts my principles. I would reject the post if elected,â€ he said.
The other candidate for the chairmanship to Azerbaijani Composersâ€™ Union Serdar Farajov told the APA that the elections were transparent.
â€œThough Firengiz Alizade lived abroad for 15 years, she is Azerbaijani citizen. She was secretary of the composersâ€™ union in 1979. The elections were transparent,â€ he said.
Serdar Farajov said that the chairwoman will nominate the candidate for secretariat and Firengiz Alizade will decide who she wants to works with. /APA/
