"NATO allies did not give us air defense system with different excuses. Certainly, we did not want it free," said Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu at a joint news conference with his Qatari and Russian counterparts in Doha, APA reports.
He reminded NATO allies withdrew their air defense systems from the Syrian border.
"Russia put forward a good suggestion regarding S-400. Turkey will need air defense systems in the coming period. We said it to NATO allies openly too. We should purchase defense industry products, which are not produced in our country, from somewhere. As an independent country, Turkey will use the right," stressed FM.
