China's embassy in Washington DC urged the United States to lift visa restrictions imposed on Chinese officials over the situation in Hong Kong, APA reports citing Teletrader.
"We urge the US side to immediately correct its mistakes, withdraw the decisions, and stop interfering in China's domestic affairs. The Chinese side will continue to take strong measures to uphold national sovereignty, security, and development interests," the embassy's statement read.
The US introduced visa restrictions on Chinese Communist Party (CCP) officials for allegedly violating Hong Kong's freedoms and "restricting human rights" in the Special Administrative Region by passing the new national security law.
