India records its biggest 24-hour increase in COVID-19 death toll

Indian health ministry data shows that at least 265 people have died in last 24 hours, APA reports citing Sputnik.

The total number of fatalities due to COVID-19 has risen to 4,971.

India's wealthiest state, Maharashtra, accounted for 50% of the total fatalities in India alone.

The total number of coronavirus cases in India has surged to 173,763. Within the last 24 hours, more than 10,000 people have recovered, the highest in a single day, so far.
