The Japanese government on Tuesday, September 8, decided to allocate 671.4 billion yen ($ 6.3 billion) for the purchase of vaccines against COVID-19, APA reports citing TASS.

This was announced by the General Secretary of the Cabinet of Ministers Yoshihide Suga.

“These funds in the amount of 671.4 billion yen are provided primarily for the purchase of vaccines against coronavirus.

We have already signed the corresponding preliminary contracts with companies from the USA and Great Britain", said the politician.

The amount for the purchase of drugs will be allocated from the additional budget, which the government approved to support the economy and fight the coronavirus.

It is also noted that Japan has already signed contracts with the British-Swedish pharmaceutical company AstraZeneca and the American Pfizer for the supply of 120 million doses of their experimental vaccines.
