Laying of water pipe from Araz River to Iran’s Tebriz City being planned

The laying of water pipe from Araz River to Iran’s Tebriz City is being planned, said Alireza Imanloo, general director of Water and Sewerage Company of Iran’s Eastern Azerbaijan province, APA’s Tehran bureau reports.

He said due to the sprawl of Tebriz City, and the growth of number of new settlements and townships around the city, the demand for water has further increased: “Therefore, we are looking for new resources for supply of water to Tebriz City. One of the projects designed for solution of water problem of Tebriz City is the laying of water pipeline from Araz river to the city”.

The general director didn’t provide detailed information about the project. Ə. Imanloo stressed necessity of acceleration of implementation of the project.

Note that 4 million people live in 63 cities and 1,500 villages of the Eastern Azerbaijan province.
