Magnitude 5.6 earthquake hits Indonesia

A magnitude 5.6 earthquake was registered in the east of Indonesia, off the coast of Tanimbar Islands, early on Monday, the United States Geological Survey (USGS) said, APA reports citing Sputnik.

The earthquake was recorded at 01:06 GMT, according to the USGS. Its epicenter was located 259 kilometers (782 miles) to the north-west of the city of Saumlaki, at the depth of 10 kilometers.

Indonesia's Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysical Agency estimates the magnitude of the quake at 5.7.

No damage and injuries have been reported.
