Typhoon Maysak ravaged South Korea’s southern coastal regions before veering off to the east, killing one and injuring four others, APA reports citing Korean media.

Maximum wind speed was estimated at 49 meters per second in Jeju Island. Strong winds damaged the power cables, cutting off power to more than 64,000 houses, including 36,000 in Jeju, 20,000 in Gyeongnam Province and 38,000 in Busan. Nuclear reactors came to a halt and air and rails have been suspended.
