Japanese airlines canceled 119 domestic flights due to a typhoon that affected the country’s southern region, APA reports citing NHK TV channel.

According to him, the changes in the schedule relate mainly to flights from airports in Kagoshima and Okinawa prefectures in southern Japan.

In addition, at least eight people were injured, in particular due to the collapse of structures. The collapse was caused by strong gusts of wind.

According to the TV channel, the typhoon approached the island of Kyushu in the south-west of the country. In this regard, the leadership of the Nagasaki prefecture located on the island issued an order to evacuate about 20 thousand local residents. In addition, about 70 thousand residents of the southwestern prefecture of Oita received an order to prepare for the evacuation.

At the moment the typhoon is heading towards China. The wind speed in its central part is 45 m / s. This is the ninth typhoon to hit the Pacific Ocean in 2020.
