Some 100-150 people could have been killed in the flooding in northern India, the Asian News International agency reported on Sunday citing a spokesperson for the Uttarakhand state, APA reports citing TASS.
Earlier, the news agency informed about the rising waters in the Dhauliganga River on Sunday after the glacier burst. Furthermore, a power plant under construction on the river was damaged.
Several rescue teams have been dispatched to the flood-stricken area. The country’s authorities are evacuating people, stressing that the situation is under control.
