The number of people who died during the terrorist attack on the mosque in Peshawar, Pakistan, has reached 90. APA reports citing Radio Pakistan.

The number of injured people exceeded 200, and 100 of those people have been hospitalized.

The rescue operation is underway at the scene.

A Taliban suicide bomber blew himself up in a mosque packed with worshippers during afternoon prayers on Monday in the high-security zone in Pakistan's restive northwestern Peshawar city, killing at least 61 people and wounding more than 150 others, mostly policemen, officials said, APA reports citing NDTV.

The powerful blast occurred inside the mosque in the Police Lines area around 1.40 pm when worshippers, which included personnel of the police, army and bomb disposal squad - were offering the Zuhr (afternoon) prayers.

The bomber who was present in the front row blew himself up, causing the roof to collapse on the worshippers, officials said.

At least 44 people were martyred and more than 157 were injured after a suicide bomber blew himself up at a mosque in Peshawar's Police Lines during afternoon prayers on Monday, security and health officials said, APA reports citing Tribune.

Security officials, confirming that it was a suicide attack, said the bomber was standing in the front row at the time of the explosion.

Confirming the number of casualties, CCPO Mohammad Aijaz said some victims were still trapped under the rubble, adding that the roof and part of the mosque's wall collapsed following the explosion.

A spokesperson for Peshawar's Lady Reading Hospital, Mohammad Asim, confirmed that dozens of injured have been brought to the medical facility.

He added that the injured included police officials. "Some of the injured are in critical condition but most are stable," said the hospital spokesperson, adding that more injured are being shifted to the hospital. The hospital also issued an appeal for blood donations.

Following the bombing, the provincial health department declared an emergency in district Peshawar and asked all medical personnel to remain on duty.

A suicide bombing at a crowded mosque in Pakistan's Peshawar killed at least 32 people on Monday, the latest attack targeting police in this northwestern city where Islamist militants remain active, APA reports citing Reuters.

Hospital officials said at least 147 people were wounded, with many of them in critical condition.

Prime Minister Shebaz Sharif called the blast a suicide attack. There were at least 260 people in the mosque, police official Sikandar Khan added.

It is not excluded that the number of dead will increase.

At least 28 people were killed and 150 others were injured following a blast inside a mosque in Pakistan's Peshawar on Monday. Local media reported the explosion was caused by a suspected suicide attack, APA reports citing India today.

The explosion took place at around 1.40 pm near Peshawar’s Police Lines area after the Zuhr prayers.

The explosion took place inside a mosque in police lines and injured over 90 people who are being shifted to Lady Reading Hospital.

The hospital's spokesperson confirmed that 17 people were killed while 90 were injured were brought to the hospital, among those — according to sources — more than 15 are in critical condition.

The spokesperson further confirmed that two police officers were found dead in the powerful blast that ripped through the mosque.

Rescue officials revealed that the blast took place during Zohr prayers, as the suicide bomber was standing in the front row.

They said that the sound of the explosion was so loud that it was heard far away while gunshots were also heard after the blast.

Meanwhile, security officials said that as per preliminary investigation, the attack was a suicide blast.

It was learnt that a portion of the building had collapsed and several people are believed to be under it.
