Beijing and its embassy and consulates are not trying to interfere in Canada's elections, the Chinese Foreign Ministry said on Friday, APA reports citing Teletrader.
The information was shared in the department's report on its head Qin Gang's meeting with his Canadian counterpart Menalie Joly, which occurred on the sidelines of the Group of 20's (G20) foreign ministers' summit in New Delhi.
According to the statement, Qin described such claims as "nonsense" that China "firmly opposes" it always does with any country's attempt to interfere in other nations' internal affairs. "The Canadian side should take concrete measures to ensure the normal performance of duties of China's diplomatic missions in Canada and prevent rumors and hype from interfering with bilateral relations," the statement concluded.
