Chinese Central Foreign Affairs Commission Director Wang Yi said on Saturday that China "is a responsible country and has always strictly abided by international law" after Beijing was accused of sending a surveillance balloon to the United States, APA reports citing Teletrader.
US State Secretary Antony Blinken canceled his trip to China after the balloon was detected over the state of Montana on Wednesday, and the two diplomats talked on the phone instead.
"We do not accept any groundless speculation and hype. In the face of unexpected situations, what both parties need to do is to maintain concentration, communicate in a timely manner, avoid misjudgments, and manage and control differences," Wang told Blinken, according to a statement by the Foreign Ministry.
