Iran unlikely to produce nuclear weapon - official

Iran has the technical capability to produce an atomic bomb but currently has no intent to do so, said the Head of the Iranian Atomic Energy Organization Mohammad Eslami on Monday, APA reports citing Teletrader.

Iran's commitment to not producing nuclear weapons was first declared by a senior adviser of the country's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, Kamal Kharrazi, in July.

Recently, the White House coordinator for the Middle East Brett McGurk stated that the revival of the Iranian nuclear deal is "highly unlikely" to happen after former United States President Donald Trump backed out of it in 2018.
