North Korea's government asked China to reopen their cross-border rail traffic, APA reports citing Teletrader.

The rail freight traffic between the two nations had been suspended since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, apart from an eight-day revival in November last year. In January this year, it was resumed only to be halted again in April in an effort to mitigate the spread of the virus, which resurfaced on both sides of the border.

According to the report, Pyongyang proposed to resume railway communication over the bridge across the Yalu river.
