Putin: Euphrates surrounding territories should come under the control of Syria

Some countries violate the sovereignty of Syria and strengthen the separatist mood there, said Vladimir Putin, Russian President at a press conference held after the Astana guarantor countries summit in Tehran, APA’s Tehran bureau reports.

"The tense situation in northeastern Syria and around the Euphrates River was discussed at the meeting. Here, with the support of some countries, attempts are being made to violate Syria's sovereignty. Efforts are being made to strengthen foreign military presence and strengthen separatist sentiment. Russia is in favor of the transition of the Euphrates territories to the control of the legitimate government of Syria," Putin said.
