S. Korea's COVID-19 tally above 100,000 for 5th day in a row

The number of daily registered COVID-19 cases in South Korea remained above 100,000 for the fifth consecutive day, according to the latest update revealed by the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency (KDCA) on Saturday, APA reports citing Reuters.

Fueled by the spread of the Omicron coronavirus variant, Seoul said it detected 110,666 new positive cases and 45 coronavirus-related deaths over the previous day. According to health authorities, the daily spreading tally should peak around 150,000 later this month.

The worst health situation was registered in South Korea's capital city of Seoul and the neighboring Gyeonggi Province.
