Foreign ministers from Arab League member states have agreed to allow Syria to rejoin the organization after more than a decade of suspension, APA reports citing Teletrader.
Ministers voted for Syria's return during a meeting at the Arab League's headquarters in Cairo on Sunday, according to Iraqi state media.
The Arab League had suspended Syria's membership after President Bashar al-Assad ordered a violent crackdown on protesters in March 2011, leading to a civil war that caused the death of nearly 500,000 people.
The decision to bring Syria back into the Arab League comes amid a renewed push towards normalization of ties with Damascus and an Arab-led solution to the ongoing crisis in the country.
