Azerbaijan's Defense Minister, Colonel General Zakir Hasanov has met with the newly appointed ambassador of Italy to the country Augusto Massari on September 26.
Congratulating Augusto Massari on his appointment as Italy’s ambassador to Azerbaijan, Minister Hasanov wished him success in his activity.
The diplomat expressed satisfaction with the beginning of his mission in Azerbaijan, pledging every effort to develop Azerbaijani-Italian relations, in particular, cooperation in the military sphere.
Italy supports the resolution of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict in line with the norms and principles of international law, Massari said expressing his country’s support for the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan.
During the meeting, the parties have discussed the military-political situation in the region, the ways of settlement of the Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, considered the current state and prospects for the development of military cooperation between the Armed Forces of the two countries and within NATO programs, as well as exchanged views on regional security issues.
