Azerbaijan takes all measures to prevent corruption-related crimes in army

Over the past year, the Azerbaijani Military Prosecutor’s Office has continued taking all necessary measures to prevent corruption-related crimes in the country’s Armed Forces thanks the policy carried out by President Ilham Aliyev, said Military Prosecutor Khanlar Valiyev.

In 2016 the Azerbaijani Military Prosecutor’s Office completed the investigation into 117 criminal cases involving 153 people charged with corruption-related crimes in the country’s Armed Forces and submitted it to courts for consideration, Valiyev said addressing a board meeting at the Military Prosecutor’s Office on Friday.

He noted that the Military Prosecutor's Office strengthened the fight against corruption that is one of the most dangerous manifestations of organized crime, in connection with the implementation of the tasks set by the head of state in this regard.

“It led to timely detection of the crimes that could weaken the power of the Armed Forces, including misappropriation, embezzlement, bribery, abuse of office and others, as well as punishment of the perpetrators,” added Valiyev.
