ICRC responds to Azerbaijani ombudsperson’s appeal on return of soldier’s body

Peter Maurer, President of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) has responded to an appeal sent by Azerbaijan’s Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsperson) Elmira Suleymanova regarding the return of the body of the killed Azerbaijani soldier.

 

In his response, Peter Maurer said the ICRC is closely following the matter and will continue to make efforts for the soonest return of the soldier’s body upon the consent of all parties, Aydin Safikhanli, head of the Ombudsperson’s Office, told APA on Thursday.

 

Azerbaijani soldier Chingiz Gurbanov was killed during the prevention of the Armenian provocation at the border with Azerbaijan on December 29, 2016.
