Armenia is apparently in shock after the Armed Forces of Azerbaijan live-fired Ildirim (Thunderstorm) anti-aircraft missile complexes, Shair Ramaldanov, a retired colonel of the Azerbaijani Army, told APA on Friday.

He noted that Armenian experts who will normally comment on any small incident are silent this time.

“They’ve been silent for two days now. It did not take Azerbaijan long to respond to the Iskander systems obtained by Armenia with Ildirim complexes,” Ramaldanov said. “It would be interesting to know what Armenia’s leadership is now going to do to tease its people.”

He noted that the successful army-building carried out thanks to the successful policy of Supreme Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev, economic opportunities of Azerbaijan, an abundance of natural resources, demographic superiority and other factors are a clear indication of Armenia’s inability to keep pace with Azerbaijan.

“The well-organized protection of Azerbaijan’s airspace and weapons to be included in Azerbaijani army’s disposal in the near future will be a surprise for Armenia and the enemy will, no doubt, be in panic. How can they neutralize the missile that we will fire at them? This a serious question,” the retired colonel added.
