The Intellectual Property Agency of Azerbaijan has commented on the information published in recent days in the country’s printed media and on social networks regarding the presentation of the Azerbaijani folk song “Kuchelere su sepmishem” (I have sprinkled water on streets) as a Persian song on Youtube portal, the Agency told APA.

The Intellectual Property Agency immediately took this issue under its control and conducted relevant investigation.

It has been determined that the song named as Dooset daram in the performance of the Iranian musician Fereydoun Asraei was placed on a number of Youtube channels including the channels entitled as Chekhabar1234 and Persian Song, and no information was noted there saying that this song is the Azerbaijani folk song: "The music of the aforementioned song is the music of the Azerbaijani folk song “Kuchelere su sepmishem”. In this case, the lyrics of the song were changed and no information was indicated about origins of the music. Such appropriation of the music of the song and its indirect presentation as a Persian music is a blatant right violation. This also contradicts with provisions of the Copyright Treaty of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) and the Performances and phonograms Treaty of WIPO.
