Amazon.com's workforce in Italy is set to go on a 24-hour strike on March 22 as workers failed to reach an agreement with the company on improving working conditions due to the Oregon-based firm's "unwillingness to positively address the issues raised," labor unions Filt Cgil, Fit Cisl and Uiltrasporti e Assoespressi announced in a statement on Thursday, APA reports citing Reuters.

"Amazon shows, with an unacceptable behavior, that it is chronically unavailable to confront workers' representatives, in defiance of national contract rules and going against a system of fairness," the statement said.

Amazon, which is employing 8,500 people in Italy, stressed that the unions' claims on the course of the negotiations were "false," denying it refused to confront workers as the company's representatives met with the unions twice in January.
