Hyundai Motor Co. is recalling 81,701 electric vehicles over battery issues, the company reported on Wednesday, APA reports citing Teletrader.
Kona, IONIQ, and Elec City buses equipped with certain lithium-ion batteries will need to have the cells replaced by the automaker due to fire risk, a process that may end up costing Hyundai more than one trillion won (~$900 million).
The batteries were produced by LG Energy Solution Ltd., who the Korean car manufacturer plans to consult in order to share expenses.
