Messaging application WhatsApp said on Thursday it is adding a biometric feature to its mobile and desktop versions for users to confirm their identity so no one can link to their account without permission, APA reports citing Teletrader.

Biometric login will act as a secondary way of identification and it will include either a fingerprint, face ID, or iris ID, depending on the user’s device.

The Facebook-owned messenger delayed the implementation of new privacy tools earlier this month after users learned that the company intends to store business data on Facebook's servers.
