Azerbaijan and Turkey will sign MoU on construction of a new gas pipeline today

Today Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources of the Republic of Turkey and the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Azerbaijan on the supply of natural gas from the Republic of Turkey to the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic will be signed, APA reports citing Turkish media.

The memorandum covers issues regarding the construction of the Turkey-Nakhchivan gas pipeline.

Note that Turkey’s BOTAS Company, which is the operator on transportation via pipelines, declared a tender in the summer on the selection of Company, which will carry out investigative and engineering works within the framework of the construction of Igdir-Nakhchivan gas pipeline. According to the information, tender covers territorial-investigative and mapping, and comprehensive engineering works on the gas pipeline with diameters of 12 inches and length of 82 km. Works should be conducted within 270 days.

Recalling that the gas supply of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic is currently carried out on the basis of swap operations with Iran.
