"Currently, the relevant works are being implemented in the area of determination of legal framework of the issues associated with laying of Turkey-Nakhchivan (Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic – editor’s note) gas pipeline", the adviser to Azerbaijan’s Energy minister, head of ministry’s press service Zamina Aliyeva told "APA-Economics".

"In this area, the draft “Memorandum of Understanding on procurement of natural gas from the Turkish Republic for the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic between the Energy and Natural Resources Ministry of the Turkish Republic and the Ministry of Energy of the Azerbaijan Republic” is under consideration", Z. Aliyeva noted.

She said the finalization of the negotiations regarding reconciliation of the draft memorandum in the nearest future is being envisaged.

Note that Turkey’s pipeline-mediated transportation operator BOTAS company has announced bidding for selection a company that will implement research and engineering works in the framework of construction of Igdir-Nakhchivan gas pipeline. The report says the bidding covers the territory researching, mapping and detailed engineering works for the pipeline with diameter of 12 inches, and approximate length of 82 km. The works should be completed within 270 days.

Remind that currently, the provision of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic with gas is implemented through swap operations with Iran.
