SOCAR evacuates about 1,000 employees working offshore

SOCAR has evacuated about 1,000 employees due to the forecast that the weather condition will become aggravated on the country’s territory beginning from evening hours today, the Deputy Head of the Public Relations and Events’ Organization Department of SOCAR Ibrahim Ahmadov told “APA-Economics”.

He said about 1,000 employees of SOCAR working offshore were evacuated onshore due to the forecast that the weather condition will become aggravated on the country’s territory beginning from evening hours today: “Currently, the works implemented on the open sections of offshore platforms and piers have been suspended. All safety measures have been intensified to the maximal degree. The regular maintenance standby is implemented around the offshore platforms by ships including the ships of the Ministry of Emergency Situations (MES). After normalization of the weather condition, the return of the employees to the work places will be ensured”.

Note that according to the forecasts, the wind speed offshore will increase to 35-40 m/s today, in the evening hours.
