Baku – APA. Azerbaijan is a strategic partner of Georgia and provides the majority of this country’s gas imports, Georgian Minister of Energy Kakha Kaladze on Saturday.

Georgia signed significant documents with Azerbaijan on gas imports in February this year, Kaladze said at a meeting with the participation of parliamentarians.

Referring to Georgia’s talks with Russia’s Gazprom, the minister said: “We have held talks with Gazprom for our country’s interests. We will defend Georgia’s interests in the next talks with this company.”

Talks between Georgia and Gazprom were completed in April 2016. Under the agreement, Georgia will continue to receive 10 percent of the pumped gas at the expense of gas transit to Armenia.
