We managed to improve energy security inside the country during these years, great infrastructure projects were implemented, Azerbaijan’s President Ilham Aliyev said during his inauguration ceremony on April 18, APA reports.

The head of state noted that more than 30 power stations were launched during 15 years: ‘Their capacity is 3,900 megawatt. For comparison, I can say that our current generation capacity is 6,500 megawatt. Azerbaijan has turned from an energy importing country to an energy exporting country’.

President Aliyev noted that gasification will reach 95% by the year-end: ‘I think this is one of the highest indicators in the world’.

The president noted that the length of roads constructed since 2004 will be 15,000 km by the end of this year: ‘This process will continue in the next years’.

President Aliyev said that Baku has many problems in water supply in 2004: ‘At the time, only 29% of Baku residents were supplied with drinking water. This figure reached 81% today. Only 20 percent of population were supplied with drinking water. Now, this figure makes up 67%. In the next years, we’ll complete the works that we could not do during these years’.
