Southern Gas Corridor project is of strategic importance, European Commission Vice-President for Energy Union Maros Sefcovic said at the 4th Ministerial Meeting of the Southern Gas Corridor (SGC) Advisory Council.
He thanked President Ilham Aliyev for support to this project.
According to him, EU attaches special importance to the project and energy security is of great importance for Europe.
Sefcovic said the first gas is expected to be transported to Turkey this year and Europe in 2020.
He noted he is satisfied with productive cooperation.
Azerbaijani Minister of Energy Parviz Shahbazov spoke about the importance of the project for Azerbaijan and Europe.
