Trafigura, Vitol say among bidders for OMV Turkey fuel unit

Baku. Agshin Rafigoglu - APA-Economics. OMV AG, central Europe’s biggest oil and gas company, has got initial bids from Vitol SA and Trafigura Group Pte for its Turkish fuel retailer OMV Petrol Ofisi AS, people with knowledge of the matter said, APA-Economics reports citing to Bloomberg.

Opet Petrolculuk AS, the State Oil Co. of the Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) and private equity firms are also among the companies that made offers. BP Plc and Saudi Arabian Oil Co., known as Aramco, are also weighing bids, the people said.

A spokesman for OMV said the process to sell Petrol Ofisi is under way.

Earlier, SOCAR President Rovnag Abdullayev said the company is interested in acquire shares of Petrol Ofisi: “We are interested in purchase of such companies. However, we want to close more deals in normal and fitting price”.

In June, SOCAR Turkey Energy CEO Zaur Gahramanov said SOCAR will review the issue of purchasing the shares of Petrol Ofisi in autumn: “We are interested in this deal and waiting for exact information about the assets of the company”.
