“Dear compatriots! Today is both ceremonial and sad day. By the order of the Azerbaijani President, a minute of silence was observed to the memory of martyrs of the Patriotic War, in the territory of the country at 12:00. All the country bowed before our children, our sons who died for the freedom of our country,” said Alexander Sharovsky, head of the European Jewish Community in Baku, well-known director, APA reports.

"I want to talk here about the role of great personalities in history. The great Heydar Aliyev gave us the great Ilham Aliyev. Ilham Aliyev took on a great responsibility. In 17 years, a strong, powerful Azerbaijan was useful, built a strong, powerful army. Under his leadership, our fire drove the invaders from our sacred lands and our country became a victorious country.

I will never forget President Ilham Aliyev and First Vice President Mehriban Aliyeva taking off their shoes and entering the Aghdam mosque. They acted as guardian angels of our lands. These are unforgettable moments. Azerbaijan, which shook the whole world for 44 days, became a victorious country. Our President is at the forefront of all presidents. Today, on his initiative, the UN General Assembly is meeting to combat the pandemic," said Alexander Sharovsky.
