Some forces are trying to undermine Azerbaijan’s model of state-religion relations, the chairman of the State Committee for Work with Religious Organizations, Mubariz Gurbanli, said on Wednesday.
“Everyone, especially the religious, must be careful. Attempts to change Azerbaijan’s model of state-religion relations necessitates a joint fight against radical groups because collapse of our historical model would mean eradication of our religious traditions. So we need to put up a joint fight against these attempts,” said Gurbanli addressing a CMO meeting dedicated to the coming of Ramadan, APA reported.
Gurbanli also recommended that CMO representatives be actively involved in events held in districts by the committee. He also condemned some religious people for indulgence in superstition.
“If a religious person talks about soothsaying or other superstitious practices in a gathering, he or she can’t be a religious person,” he added.
