Azerbaijan to establish ‘Sheikh-ul-Islam’ prize for journalists

Baku. Mubariz Aslanov – APA. Azerbaijan to establish “Sheikh-ul-Islam” prize for journalists for their coverage of national moral values, said Haji Allahshukur Pashazade, Chairman of the Caucasian Muslims Office.

He made the remarks at the opening of a two-week seminar on national moral values and mass media in Baku Nov. 25.

Pashazade said he relies much on journalists and expects proposals from them.

“I have already ordered the establishment of the “Sheikh-ul-Islam” award, which will be given to journalists for their coverage of national moral values,” he added.

The seminar was attended by Chairman of the State Committee for Work with Religious Organizations Mubariz Gurbanli, Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Public Unions and Religious Organizations Siyavush Novruzov, Press Council Chairman Aflatun Amashov.
