Number of Azerbaijani citizens traveling abroad increases by over 21%

In January this year the number of the Azerbaijani citizens traveling abroad increased by 21.5% as compared with the same period of the last year and reached 433.7 thousand people, the State Statistics Committee told "APA-Economics".

Some 38.1% of the country’s citizens traveled to Iran, 29.9% - to Georgia, 16.8% - to Russian Federation, 9.7% - to Turkey, 1.1% - to Ukraine, 1% - to the United Arab Emirates, and 3.4% - to other countries. Some 67.4% of the travelers were males, and 32.6% - females.

During that period, the number of the Azerbaijani citizens traveled to Iran increased by 32.2%, the number of people traveled to Georgia – by 29.9 %, the number of people traveled to Turkey – by 15.9%, but the number of the Azerbaijani citizens traveled to the Russian Federation decreased by 2.1%.

In January 2020, 84.2% of the citizens of Azerbaijan Republic traveled to foreign countries used railway and automobile transport, 15.2% - air transport, and 0.6% - water transport.
