State Agency: Number of tourists visiting Azerbaijan reached record level

In September of the current year, in total, 280 thousand people crossed Azerbaijani borders in September of 2019, and it is 48 thousand or 20.8% more than corresponding period of 2018, State Tourism Agency of Azerbaijan told APA-Economics.

The highest increase has been recorded in the number of tourists from Iran and Middle East countries. Thus, increase on Iran has been recorded by 2 times or 33 thousand, on Middle East countries 88%. 6,7 thousand or more than 13% of tourists come from Georgia, while 5,3 thousand or more than 8% from Russia.

Number of tourists coming from Turkmenistan among Middle East travelers has reached record level and it means 231.8% in comparison with the previous year.

A sharp increase is observed in the number of tourists coming from India (83.7% or 3 thousand) among Central Asian countries, while Saudi Arabia (96.1% or 3,8 thousand) among Middle East countries.
