World Tourism Organisation (WTO) intends to open a center in Azerbaijan, Zurab Pololikashvili, Secretary-General of the World Tourism Organization, said at the press conference about the results of the 110th session of the Executive Council of the World Tourism Organization held in Baku on June 16-18, APA reports.
He said that they are planning to open 10 centers in the world throughout the year. “We intend to open such a center in Baku as well in the upcoming future.”
WTO Secretary-General emphasized that they would like to open not 10 but 20 centers in the world during the year: “However, it does not only depend on us, but also states and finance”.
Zurab Pololikashvili said that the General Assembly of WTO will be held in Saint Petersburg in September of the current year and security and visa issues in the field of tourism will be at the center of attention. “Visa has great importance for tourists. But some countries cannot create favorable conditions for visa facilitation due to security issues. We want to achieve improvement in this field connecting with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the countries.”
Zurab Pololikashvili noted that WTO also focuses on rural tourism development: “Education is also important in the field of tourism. The first Online Tourism Academy will be established. People will acquire basic knowledge and English, the Spanish language will be taught at this academy. With finding partners, we would like to achieve the Academy's activity in other languages, including the Azerbaijani.”
