Azerbaijani national team breaks up with head coach

Azerbaijani women's volleyball team bids farewell to the head coach, APA reports.

Italian specialist Giovanni Caprara resigned from the national team.

The reason for this was the expiration of the contract of the 57-year-old specialist. J. Caprara, with whom the Volleyball Federation of Azerbaijan concluded a short-term agreement. Caprara returned to the Italian club Il Bisonte.

The specialist-led our team in May led it in 3 official tournaments. The foreign coach, who suffered 6 defeats in the Europa League, won only 1 victory in 3 games of the Olympic licensed tournament. The European Championship was the last test for him. Our team led by J. Caprara won 4 victories in 5 matches of the group round and reached the 1/8 finals. This match has become an insurmountable barrier for our volleyball players and for the Italian.

Thus, the Azerbaijani team won 5 victories in 15 matches under the leadership of J. Caprara.
