“Personally, I want an English-German final in Baku,” said Secretary General of the Association of Football Federations of Azerbaijan (AFFA) Elkhan Mammadov on the final match of the Europa League, to be held in Baku on May 29, ONA reports.

“You know that we have a direct connection with the decisive game of the 1966 World Cup. That final game’s referee was Azerbaijani Tofig Bahramov. As you know, his decision gave the English their only world championship. I think the English people also remember it. We will prepare a special Tofig Bahramov corner for England fans. We will take them to the referee’s monument,” E. Mammadov said justifying his desire to see an English club in finals in Baku.

“I am confident that the stadium will be filled and we will have a football holiday. Of course, having the English in the finals is economically advantageous. We will cover all our expenses from selling beer alone.”

He also commented on the idea of simultaneously holding of the F1 Grand Prix and Euro 2020.

“This is a very complex issue, because here are quite different fans. There is no race calendar yet. There should be no conflicts.”
