President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev today received Azerbaijan’s national volleyball team who ranked fourth at the 2017 CEV Volleyball European Championship – Women.
The head of state congratulated the national team on their success.
“This was an absolutely fascinating tournament which revealed the level of our women’s volleyball. Overall, the 2017 CEV Volleyball European Championship – Women was held successfully and the level of organization was high. Officials of European federations and other guests also feel the same way,” he said.
The president emphasized the fact that the tournament was held not only in Baku but also in Goygol district is worth mentioning, adding that this is indicative of the development of Azerbaijan’s sports infrastructure.
“If not for the fine conditions provided for athletes, such dynamic development would have been impossible. Generally, Azerbaijan already has a decent place in the world Olympic family. This is also what international organizations such as the International Olympic Committee and the European Olympic Committees think,” he said.
