Armenian National Security Service has detained the head of Licensing and Permits Department of the Ministry of Economy of the country, the press service of the agency said, APA reports citing Sputnik Armenia.

During the investigation, it was determined that detainee A.N. turned a blind eye to the falsification of the customs declaration of one of the companies on September 6 in exchange for a large bribe. Thus, in the customs declaration of the company importing polished diamonds from the UAE to Armenia the customs value of the product was noted as USD 148 535. As a result of the research of experts, it was determined that the real value of the product brought to the country was USD 811 thousand, as a result of falsification large-scale tax evasion from the budget was identified.
