Rescuers have recovered the body of a man killed in an avalanche that came down Mount Mussa Achitara in Russia’s Karachay-Cherkessia Region on Monday, the press service of the Ministry for Emergency Situations told TASS, APA reports.

"Regretfully, a dead person was recovered during the search-and-rescue work. Search for the people continues," the ministry said.

According to the emergencies ministry, a snowslide hit a piste in the settlement of Dombai. Two trailers where the ski gear is rented came under the avalanche, and a cafe was damaged. Four to 12 people could be there when the avalanche came down. Over 230 people are engaged in the search-and-rescue work. The length of the avalanche was 300 meters.

Search has been suspended until morning, the head of the emergencies ministry’s chief directorate in the region, Alexander Golokolenko, has told journalists. "Work has been halted beause of the night-time and unfavorable weather conditions. It will be continued after the sunrise," he said.
