A moderate earthquake has hit parts of central Asia on Saturday, APA reports citing earthquake-report.com website.

According to Geofon the M5.3 quake was centered in the central region of Tajikistan, about 200 km east of the capital Dushanbe. Due to the shallow depth a high intensity can be expected for the epicentral area. Therefore earthquake-report.com expects minor damage and possibly landslides in the area near Tojikobad.

Minor shaking of the quake was also felt in parts of Uzbekistan, including the capital Tashkent, Afghanistan and Kyrgyzstan. However, no damage is expected there.
