More than one hundred doctors, nurses and orderlies in St. Petersburg have tested positive for coronavirus, the health committee of the Northern capital said, APA's local bureau reports.

Over the past day, 424 new cases of COVID-19 were confirmed in the city, the total number of cases now is 1,507.

According to the St. Petersburg operational headquarters for countering the spread of coronavirus infection, 22 patients recovered over the past 24 hours, the total number of people who recovered from COVID-19 in the city is 192 people.

A number of medical institutions in the city temporarily stopped admitting new patients because of the coronavirus, which was detected in both health workers and patients. For example, the day before it became known that the admission of women in labor at the maternity hospital No. 17 was stopped. Mothers with newborns are discharged under the conditions of 14-day self-isolation, medical workers do not leave the institution. The women in labor are delivered to other hospitals including the maternity hospital No. 16, which opened the day before after a two-week quarantine.
